Moiré Bags

screenprinted totebags

A Moiré pattern is created by overlaying similar (but not identitcal) patterns. In this case, the distorted effect is created by minor rotations, color variations, and a wish to create funky mountainscapes.

I designed and printed these totebags as part of a screenprinting showcase for prospective students.

During the design process I knew I would screenprint these and incorporated the effects of the paper choices in the overall design. Every poster was designed to highlight the visual and narrative motifs in the film, such as the fragmented mirror in Mulholland Drive.

These bags were printed in limited quantities, with every print using the same elements in slightly different compositions.
